Inauguration ceremony for 22 new professors

On 13 October, 22 new professors were inaugurated in the Grand Auditorium at a formal ceremony in the Grand Auditorium of the University Main Building, followed by a mingle in the Pillar Hall.

The University's new professors were inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor. In connection with the inauguration, a short popular science lecture was held by one of the new professors, Professor Anna Houmann. See pictures from the inauguration ceremony.

During the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor gave a warm welcome speech in which he highlighted LU's Nobel Prize.

The inaugural speech was delivered by Anna Houmann, newly inaugurated professor of music education with a specialisation in educational sciences, who spoke about her research and the relationship between pupil, student and teacher.

The speech from the students was given by LUS President Linnea Landegren and it was answered by Johan Östling, newly installed professor of history with a focus on the history of knowledge. Johan talked about the University community that teachers and students create together.

During the ceremony, music and song were performed by the Royal Academic Orchestra and the Lund Academic Choir at Odeum under the direction of director musices Patrik Andersson and soloist Hanna Arlaud.
