How to apply

Applications must be made through the application system unless otherwise stated. If you have not used the application system before, you will need to register as a new user. Please read the call for applications before applying.

The Erik and Gurli Hultengren Fund for Philosophy at Lund University

Purpose: The net proceeds are to be used to promote a life-oriented philosophy.

The Rune and Lena Lavin Foundation for Legal Research at the Faculty of Law in Lund 

Purpose: to promote legal research at the Faculty of Law in Lund. Through its activities, the Foundation will support, encourage and facilitate research at the faculty.

County Governor Nils Hörjel’s Research Fund at Lund Institute of Technology (LTH)

Purpose: The purpose of the foundation is to support technologically oriented research and higher education at the Lund University Faculty of Engineering that can contribute to the industrial development in (the former) Malmöhus county.

The Stig M. and Birgitta Bergström Foundation for Geological Research

Purpose: to promote terrestrial and planetary pre-Quaternary historical geological research (fossils, bedrock and geological development) in Sweden and abroad by students of, and others associated with, Lund University.

The Fund of Engineer Lars Henrik Fornander and his Wife

Purpose: The purpose of the foundation is to provide grants for the promotion of interdisciplinary research, in particular on the boundary between philosophy and specialisms within science and engineering subjects.

The Skåne Insurance Company (Brand- och livförsäkringsaktiebolaget Skåne) Jubilee Fund 

Purpose: Support for research and teaching relating to such problems in the sciences that have a connection to the theory and practice of the insurance business.

The Lars Johan Wallmark Scholarship Fund

Purpose: Scholarship awarded to a skilled and deserving junior academic teaching staff member at Lund University who has not previously received a scholarship from the Wallmark scholarship fund, and who does not hold a permanent position at the University.

The Johanna Andersson Foundation for Nutrition Physiology Research

Purpose: Grants are awarded as support for research in the field of nutrition, focusing on the improvement of public health using innovative food concepts.

Purpose: grants for scientific studies in "subjects relating to agriculture and animal husbandry including the sciences most closely associated with these fields".

Next application period will open in end of May 2025. You will then be able to apply for grants from The Thelma Zoéga fund for Medical Research.

Decisions and payment

The processing time varies between foundations. Decisions are always sent to successful applicants, and sometimes to all applicants.

Disbursement of scholarships and grants awarded to university staff are made to the relevant department. If you are not an employee of Lund University, disbursement can be made to a private bank account. In order to receive disbursement of the grant, you must use the requisition form that accompanies an approved application in the application system.

If your trip is cancelled and you will not be able to use your grant, please inform the Endowment Administration, stipendier [at] eken [dot] lu [dot] se (stipendier[at]eken[dot]lu[dot]se)

Reporting and repayment

A report must always be submitted after the completion of a trip or project. The reporting form can be found in the application system alongside an approved application. Submit your report promptly after you have used the grant.

If the entire scholarship or grant is not used, the remaining funding must be repaid to the foundation. Ask the finance officer at your department to contact Endowment Administration.

It is not possible to request redistribution of the funding for a different purpose or an extension of the grant period. Instead you are welcome to apply for a new grant in the next application round.

If your trip is moved to a later date, you can still use your grant, provided that it is within the specified period in the decision.
