Administration of incoming trainees
Hosting a trainee is both engaging and rewarding, but it also entails a responsibility.
A trainee is considered a guest
Lund University does not have centralised coordination or uniform regulations for handling incoming trainees. Therefore, it's essential to treat a trainee coming to Lund University as a guest, regardless of whether they are a student at their home university or here for an Erasmus traineeship. This also applies to doctoral students undertaking a traineeship at Lund University.
Some faculties may have specific guidelines regarding the management of incoming trainees. It's advisable to familiarise yourself with the regulations applicable to your faculty.
In general, the following guidelines apply to trainees visiting Lund University:
- They will not be registered in Ladok.
- They will not receive a student account.
- They are unable to fully participate in student life or benefit from student discounts. However, they can purchase a guest card upon presentation of a student ID from another university. For more information, visit Kuratorskollegiet’s website (information in Swedish)
- As guests at Lund University, trainees have same obligations as other employees, including adhering to standard working hours.
- Trainees are responsible for securing accommodation in the private housing market.
Insurance for visiting trainees
Trainees are not covered by student insurance but instead by 'Insurance for foreign visitors.' In the event of an insurance claim, authorisation from the head of department is required for coverage. Any inquiries regarding insurance should be directed to the HR representative of the department or faculty.
