Commissioned education
This is commissioned education
Commissioned education consists of courses and programmes offered by universities or higher education institutions for a fee to professionals in companies, authorities or organisations. The education has a disciplinary foundation and is adapted to the needs and conditions of the participants.
Commissioned education provides great opportunities
By engaging in commissioned education, you are disseminating research from the University and contributing to community development. It also gives you the opportunity to capture the rest of the world’s experiences and needs. The perspectives of external actors on research and teaching at Lund University contribute to continuously enhance the quality of our activities.
Commissioned education can also be widened to include other cooperation and research collaborations and contribute to the internationalisation of the University.
Would you like to organise commissioned education at your department?
Lund University Commissioned Education (LUCE), a part of Research, Collaboration & Innovation, has the overall responsibility for commissioned education at Lund University. LUCE promotes the University’s commissioned education as a form of continuing professional development and analyses the outside world based on the needs of diverse markets.
Teaching and administrative staff and researchers at Lund University can turn to LUCE for a number of different commissioned education services, from ideas about projects to evaluation.
Over the years, the department has created a very valuable circle of contacts which you can benefit from when you want to share your research or gain new teaching experience.
Are you thinking about organising a commissioned education course/programme? Do you need help or support with planning, calculating costs and packaging your idea? Please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Types of commissioned education
Commissioned education can be run in various ways. We offer courses and programmes from Lund University’s general range of courses/programmes, and completely tailored ones. The length of the course/programme can be anything from an hour to three years, and teaching staff will often have the opportunity to travel outside Lund, sometimes also outside Sweden.
A large part of the commissioned education consists of open courses and programmes, which are created together with the departments. Participants can register for these irrespective of the organisation they belong to, as long as they are employed. We have listed our open commissioned education courses in a course catalogue, see below.
