Follow-up and evaluation of courses and study programmes
In line with the Lund University Strategic Plan, we strive for the highest quality of education, with learning environments that are characterised by both teaching and research, excellent study environment and good learning support.
Evaluation of ongoing courses and study programmes
Evaluation of ongoing courses and study programmes takes place in several different ways. Regardless of the method, the evaluation should be carried out with the help of peer review involving external experts.
Each faculty is responsible for having fit-for-purpose quality assurance and quality enhancement processes for its courses and study programmes.
In addition to these internally initiated evaluations, the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) evaluates a specific nation-wide selection of courses and study programmes.
The purpose of the evaluations is to continuously improve and develop the programmes at Lund University, and to ensure that the programmes live up to the quality criteria that we at the University have jointly agreed on. They are based on national and international standards and guidelines.
Follow-up of courses and study programmes
To ensure high quality in our programmes, Lund University monitors and evaluates its quality management. Through dialogue, course evaluations and university-wide surveys, we gain valuable knowledge on how to develop education.
Dialogues
By following up on the quality assurance work and its results we can obtain information on how the work we put in actually increases the quality of education based on our criteria.
The follow-up includes quality dialogues, in which the results of quality assurance work on the courses and study programmes are discussed in a structured conversation. The dialogues are held between the University Management and faculty managements, as well as within the faculties. Student and doctoral student representatives are always invited to participate in the dialogues.
Course evaluations
Another form of follow-up is the course evaluations and course evaluation reports that are carried out for the individual courses and study programmes, in which students’ and doctoral students’ views on the quality of education are in focus. Training in teaching and learning in higher education is also followed up.
Course evaluations and course evaluation reports
University-wide surveys
Lund University carries out different evaluations, investigations and studies that contribute empirical evidence for the systematic quality assurance work. The results often lead to measures taken by, for example, the Education Board or the faculties.
