Launch of a unified web experience for education planned for February 2026

The university-wide project “A unified web experience for education” has been rolling along at breakneck speed this spring – from in-house training for publishers in the new PIM system to further development of web design, technology and content. The launch is currently planned for February 2026.

“We have done our best to stick to the schedule set when the project was commissioned in winter 2023. But along the way, we have faced both unforeseen events beyond our control and the enormous complexity of developing a new university-wide system. Simultaneously creating new web layout views and bringing together all the web content aimed at prospective students has proved to be more time-consuming than initially anticipated. To ensure quality and a reasonable workload for staff – and to take into account the admission periods – we have therefore decided to move the launch from the previously planned date in September 2025 to February 2026,” says Project Manager Patrik Hekkala.

“Using the PIM system, we are creating a common structure for the content and better opportunities for displaying related courses and study programmes and categorising them. It makes it easier for prospective students to get an overview and compare different options,” says Petra Svensson, sub-project manager for product implementation within “A unified web experience for education”.

Coordinating editors hold the faculties’ work together. The project involves development and different types of activities on several fronts. One of the key elements is the adaptation of existing and new content to the target group by editors and writers at faculty and departmental level. The project is driving this work together with the coordinating editors, one per faculty, who hold the work together in their part of the organisation. Also important are the education editors for national and international student recruitment and marketing.

“The new PIM system is based on a common logic and structure. This requires us to test and anchor solutions on an ongoing basis, but also involves some compromises. All content must, more or less, be able to follow similar templates. Think of it as an online shop where all goods follow the same structure in terms of presentation. Now we’re going to do something similar with our degree programmes and courses,” says Louise Larsson, sub-project manager for “A unified web experience for education”, who is responsible for implementation.
