New guidelines for partial pensions

On 15 June 2023, the University approved changes to the guidelines for granting and taking out partial pensions. The new guidelines cover all those who apply for and start to receive a partial pension as of 1 January 2024.

The partial pension agreement for government employees from 2003 has meant a favourable option for government employees to have a flexible working life before full retirement. In May 2023, the partial pension agreement was terminated and ceases to apply as of 1 January 2024. However, the agreement will continue to apply for those born in 1965 or earlier.

Granting of partial pensions will be more restrictive

The University’s new guidelines mean a more restrictive position than before regarding the granting of partial pensions. The basic rule will be that a partial pension of up to 20 per cent will be granted and that a higher percentage will only be considered if a special reason applies (e.g. the employee’s health or long-term sustainability) and is justified in the application.

More generous when nearing full retirement age

The guidelines also entail a more restrictive position regarding younger partial pensioners but become progressively more generous as the employee nears the full retirement age.
