This was part of the subject of the Future of the Workplace project, to find out what we did when we came back. How did it affect, for example, the social and physical work environment, leadership and how we conduct our meetings? The aim was also to examine if there were areas the University needed to work on specifically in this context. Focus was placed on technical and administrative staff and their managers.
The findings have now been put together in the sub report “The Hybrid Workplace”. It describes the results of the interviews conducted with managers and employees of the University between October 2021 and November 2022. But also, how other higher education institutions and organisations have handled the changing views on remote work.
The overall picture is that both managers and employees see it as a positive change and that the introduction has gone relatively smoothly. Researchers and members of teaching staff have always had the opportunity to work remotely and many welcome the opportunity for more categories of employees to do so too. At the same time, the hybrid workplace is still relatively new for all employee categories, and it is important to continue to monitor how it affects us in different ways.
