Time to elect health and safety representatives

The term of office for current health and safety representatives ends on 31 December. This means that in the autumn, the University will hold a health and safety representative election for the period 2024 to 2026. The election is to be completed by 31 October 2023.

Who do you want to nominate?

Think about who you want to nominate at your workplace to become a health and safety representative for the coming three years. It could be someone who has not previously been a health and safety representative, but it is also possible to nominate the current representative if you would like to see them re-elected. You can also nominate yourself if you would like to be a health and safety representative.

Health and safety representatives are offered a comprehensive work environment course that has been produced in a collaboration between the University’s chief health and safety representatives, the HR Division and the Occupational Health Service.

Three-stage election

Heads of department/equivalent are to inform staff members about the health and safety representative election at their workplace. The election of health and safety representatives and substitutes is a three-stage process:

  • Nomination of health and safety representative, at the workplaces.
  • Conducting of election, at the workplaces.
  • Formal election, when the employee organisations jointly appoint the health and safety representatives.

Only staff who are members of the employee organisations with which the University has collective  agreements (Saco/S, Seko and  OFR/S) can be appointed as health and safety representatives.
