Time for teaching staff to report secondary employment

Man reading a book on the desktop.

All teaching staff must submit a report concerning secondary employment by 31 March at the latest. Teaching staff who do not hold secondary employment are also to report this. Reporting and assessment is done in Primula. Be careful to choose the current year (2024) in the report. Heads of department are to have assessed and explained decisions on secondary employment by 30 April at the latest.

Teaching staff have expanded opportunities to take on R&D secondary employment

In order for the knowledge and expertise present at the University to benefit society, teaching staff at the University have a greater opportunity to take on certain forms of secondary employment than other employees. These secondary employment roles are to be concerned with research or development work within the teaching staff member’s subject area, and are referred to as Research and Development secondary employment. This opportunity is open only to teaching staff, and not the University’s other research staff.

Any secondary employment must never risk harming confidence in Lund University or become confused with activities conducted at the University. As well as leading to disciplinary measures, prohibited secondary employment may also result in research funders not reimbursing costs for work that has been carried out in contravention of the rules on secondary employment. There have been cases in which project funding has had to be repaid due to prohibited secondary employment.
