With the concept of academic leadership, Lund University wants to reinforce and protect what is unique about the type of activities that the university conducts – the academic freedom which permeates our core activities.
Applies to all leadership roles at the University
The academic leadership at Lund University includes all managerial assignments carried out within research, education, external engagement, administration and management.
This means that the policy applies both to recruited managers in administration and management (technical and administrative managers) and leaders chosen collegially.
Expectations on leadership
The policy sets out what expectations the University puts on leaders. The policy also describes the various organisational structures that the University’s leaders operate within.
Complements guidelines for managerial positions
The policy is a complement to the University’s guidelines on management positions which have existed since 2019, but which have been revised to some extent while the policy was being drawn up.
The policy on academic leadership and the updated guidelines for management positions will soon be available in the rules and regulations on Staff Pages: Staff rules| Staff Pages (lu.se)
