Lund University has most defibrillators

With 89 defibrillators, Lund University has more defibrillators than any other Swedish higher education institution. These are to cover a campus area of around 550,000m2 and be available for about 39,000 staff and students.

The magazine Universitetsläraren has conducted a survey to find out how many defibrillators there are at Sweden higher education institutions (HEIs). They sent out a questionnaire to 34 HEIs and received 30 responses. According to the responses, there is a total of 433 installed on these campuses.

Lund University recently began a review of a decision from 2014, which stipulated that the campus was to be heart safe zone.

“Based on that decision, every part of the organisation purchased the number of defibrillators that were considered necessary. Some had purchased defibrillators before the decision because they wanted to have them at their workplace. Each organisational unit, which has responsibility for systematic work environment management, assessed how many defibrillators they wanted and where they are to be placed” says Anne Link, head of the Occupational Health Service.

The Occupational Health Service at Lund University organises a CPR course, which includes defibrillator training, about one per month. Each course has 25 participants and two instructors.

There are no coordinated courses for students.
